Welcome back to another weekly update! This week, I had a lot of new stuff going on in my life. It was all good, thankfully, but I still had a little trouble adjusting to the change.
A Struggle From This Week
One of the awesome things that happened this week is that I started readings for the play I was recently cast in. There had been some switches in the cast and I ended up with a different, but still great role. It was a little difficult to get used to at first, but I was happy with whatever character I’d be playing!
Another change involving the play is that I was the only one in my age group. I’ve been the youngest and among the oldest before, but I had always had people relatively close to my age I was acting with. Now, I’m the only one around 20, whereas the rest of my castmates are below 14 or over 25. I was worried at first because I didn’t know who I’d be able to hang out with. It would be either elementary schoolers or people who were married with kids! However, as I spent more time with them, I felt more comfortable. While I can’t converse with the younger actors like I would someone my own age, they’re so amusing to listen to. They’re very enthusiastic about everything and they love telling stories, even if they do get sidetracked sometimes. They’re so adorable! The older adults are very calm and knowledgeable, so I know they’re going to be nice to be around too. And if I ever need space or just want to be alone for a little while, I can have that much more easily than I would otherwise. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air to be the only one in my age group for once. There’s a lot less drama and pressure, something that I’m especially grateful for after the last show I was almost in. While all these changes were unexpected, they were ultimately for the best!
A Win From This Week
This week, I achieved a goal I’ve had for years, and that was to start an Etsy shop! I spent a couple days drawing and making prints, then finally mustered up the courage to actually open my store. It all seems to be going great! I’m so proud of myself for doing this. It’ll really help me get my name out there as well as help me save for the future goals of paying off my student debt and buying a house. I’m so excited!
If you’d like to check out my shop, here it is: EmBurriArt on Etsy
Thank you so much for checking in this week!
